Was looking at the Jalopnik, Mercedes Benz 190E , BMW E30 and Ford Sierra RS500 post, which got me looking at the same and similar cars of the time.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Why has no one bought this 1990 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS Sapphire?

It’s LHD, RWD, 62,000 miles, USD$29,000.

An underappreciated classic.

Knowing 205s, that one is interesting to me.

Kinja'd!!!

Those seat bottom bolsters have been reupholstered by someone who doesn’t know these cars, the rest of the leather as well probably, and that’s even ignoring the apparently wrong color of the leather. The bolster cushions should be much more aggressive/pronounced than they appear here. I (205 GTi/CTi owner) saw it in a fraction of a second. If you reupholster those seats (new cushions are still available) and don’t do it right in such a pricey car (and don’t even mention it in the ad) it makes me skeptical about the other quality claims they make.

This is how it should look:

I can’t find anything about reupholstery though.

https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/peugeot/205/205-gti-1-9-supplied-new-in-japan-unique-concours-condition—sorrento-green-limited-edition/7858264

The car wasn’t even registered in Japan until 2006.

This 205 GTi 1.9 is very likely the lowest original mileage 205 GTi 1.9 facelift example left in existence - where all of its panels and underside remain factory original to this day, nothing like the usual UK examples that have typically already suffered from rust and had repairs to replace rotted chassis and other parts.

As such this 205 GTi 1.9 represents a unique opportunity for a discerning collector who isn’t phased by the car being LHD, if intending to use it in the UK. This Sorrento Green Metallic example is one of just 300 special editions built. Original specifications include green carpet, green checked cloth, black interior trim, grey half leather with matching facelift exterior trim too. Note the 205 GTi facelift tail lights and facelift bulged bonnet. This car is equipped with (very rare!) factory fitted air conditioning too. It also has power steering & central locking.

Interior is similarly beautiful & stunningly well kept. The leather is perfect throughout with no wear or ageing to the original cloth. Interior condition is amongst the very best of what we have typically seen in 205's in Japan, yet alone Europe, where mileages tend to be a lot higher. Carpets are original and without staining and as with the exterior & all the plastics are well preserved too. The electrics all work perfectly. This has been a non-smoker’s car and it would appear the cigar lighter has never been used either. We didn’t like the fitted mats that came with this car so we ordered a brand new custom fitted set, complete with “205 GTi” on the front mats. We came across a 205 Keyring, with the iconic Speedline 15" wheel design as a centerpiece of the fob, which will be provided with the car’s original keys.

At that price it’s still a lot cheaper than other Sierras of performance pedigree.

I think you have to read between the lines

The leather is perfect throughout with no wear or ageing to the original cloth.

As I read it, after having seen the pictures: “Original cloth, new leather.”

Anyway, I’m a bit of a 205 nerd. So I spot these things easier.

Here’s my restored (and restomodded) ‘87 205 CTi. Restoration isn’t entirely done yet.

Kinja'd!!!

Seats I lucked out on finding on a junkyard. Will need a little work with the seems, but the leather is in great condition and the other than the drivers seat bottom the cloth is too. This steering wheel is temporary.

Ye’, Peugeots aren’t my thing, well, most cars aren’t unless it’s cleaning them. Lol.

She looks great mate .

I see the odd modern classic cabrio and get jealous but I’m 38, a hairline (that an old colleague used to say, everyday you have more face to wash. Lol), ironically the head is the only place I don’t have hair and I’m tubby, so a cabrio would be like seeing Jeremy Clarkson in a Focus cabrio.

I’m 35, so regarding age I don’t see the problem. You will need a hat though, I assume the sun will burn your scalp.

Normal 2.0 DOHC’s easily fetch 1500£+ here currently, all the cheap ones have been run death as burnout cars by now :/

I always fancied myself in a trilby.

I can no longer carry off a peaked cap or beret as I’m no longer ‘in service’ (I looked good in a beret, insignia, fold and positioning to regulation on my head. I’ve always been anal about dress regulations ).

Ye’, being outside washing cars for several hours, you get distracted and only when you sit down afterwards do you realise your head and nose are burning and flaking. Lol.

?

This one is not quite like others on the U.K. market.

New to the UK market. Just arrived from Italy. Just 99,000 Kms / 62000 miles. 1 owner from new. Totally rust free. Totally original. Totally immaculate. Runs and drives perfectly. With original books and Italian docs / MOT history. To be supplied on a NOVA certificate. Can be UK registered if required. Any inspection welcome.

I like the W124, but by the time you got it to what was once the leader of the free world, it would cost nearly as much as what a 500E can be found here, and sometimes ex-Japan cars have a slight stigma.  Still, if it checks out, a fun left field choice.

Never been too big on the entire “extra costs because papers” and etc, sorry. I’d rather a car that you won’t feel too bad driving as you want instead of hiding it away for show :P
